AAS 50th Anniversary Gala

Across half a century of award-winning scholarship, pedagogy, service and mentoring, the TCNJ African American Studies Department has consistently achieved academic excellence for its  students, and provided faculty, staff, the wider TCNJ community and the campus community with service, diverse curriculum and thoughtful and at times challenging events. Diversity Day Takeover

The beginning of a new academic year is the ideal time to reaffirm and promote our collective commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. To this end, Inclusive Excellence is hosting a Diversity Day Takeover in Brower Student Center on September 23, 2022. A Diversity Resource Fair featuring student orgs and departments from across campus will be followed by the State of Diversity address by VP James A. PAA Talks 2022

PAA Talks is a TED-style Talk on AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander) experiences by TCNJ’s AAPI community (PAA) members. This event is run entirely by students with two co-chairs, Gabbi Son and Brandon Hoang, and a committee of students, Kyla Ramos, Neerjah Upreti, and Christopher Cerny. With this year being the first year that PAA (Pan Asian Alliance) decided to team up with TCNJ’s Intercultural Affairs team to make this event an even greater success. Continue Reading

Diversity Narratives Project

The Diversity Narratives Project is one of several strategic initiatives in support of the TCNJ’s efforts to promote inclusive excellence and illuminate the stories of our diverse community. The Division of Inclusive Excellence has contracted famed artist, educator, and activist Adam Mastoon to produce a series of photographic portraits, accompanied by powerful text and artwork inspired by the lived experience of our peers, colleagues, and friends. We are seeking courageous and empowered TCNJ community members who are willing to share their voices and experiences on issues related to racism, anti-racism, inclusion, and allyship. IGD Facilitator Training

Intergroup Dialogue is a communication technique grounded in “face-to-face facilitated conversations between members of two or more social identity groups that strives to create new levels of understanding, relating, and action.” In higher education, the purpose of IGD training is to provide faculty and staff with a foundation for the effective facilitation of structured dialogues as a social justice tool.
