The Division of Inclusive Excellence and Office of Mentoring, Retention, and Success Programs are proud and pleased to continue TCNJ’s tradition of celebrating first generation student success with the annual First Generation Student Celebration.
More than 30% of TCNJ students are first generation college students, or those whose parents who did not attend a four year college or university in the United States. Such students face unique challenges adapting to and thriving in college, challenges that are best overcome with the support of other lifelong learners who were themselves first gen. In recognition of this fact, and in celebration of the achievements of first generation students current and former, we invite all those identifying as first generation to join us for the First Generation Student Celebration on April 10, 2023 in Ed 212 from 12:30 to 2pm.
TCNJ is also thrilled to have been accepted for institutional membership to Alpha Alpha Alpha (“Tri Alpha”), a National Honor Society for First-Generation College Students. The inaugural class of the Eta Mu chapter of Tri-Alpha will be inducted during the First Generation Student Celebration. Ten students and ten employees have been identified as outstanding representatives of the first generation community and we hope you will join us in honoring their contributions to TCNJ and beyond.
If you plan to attend the Celebration, please RSVP here or below. If you have any questions, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions. We look forward to honoring the legacy built by first generation students with you!
