More than 30% of TCNJ students are first-generation college students, or those whose parents or guardians who did not attend a four-year college or university in the United States. Such students face unique challenges adapting to college life, challenges that are best overcome with the support of other lifelong learners who were themselves first gen. In recognition of this fact, and in celebration of the achievements of first-generation students current and former, we invite all those identifying as first generation to join us for the First-Generation Student Celebration on April 8, 2024 in Education 212 from 12 to 1:30pm.
TCNJ is also thrilled to have been accepted for institutional membership to Alpha Alpha Alpha (“Tri Alpha”), a National Honor Society for First-Generation College Students. The third class of the Eta Mu chapter of Tri-Alpha will be inducted during the First-Generation Student Celebration. Ten exceptional students have been identified as outstanding representatives of the first-generation community and we hope you will join us in honoring their contributions to TCNJ and beyond.
If you are an employee who self-identifies as a first-generation college student, please submit this brief form to be included in future first-generation communications and events.
If you have any questions, please contact inclusion@tcnj.edu with any questions. We look forward to honoring the legacy built by first-generation students with you!
